A couple of days ago, I did a presentation to a Bachelor’s Class in Communications at IDC Herzliya.
For me, it was an overwhelming experience! Being on the same class where I took my first and second degree, but this time as a lecturer…
Times have changed since I was a student. It seems like the students are smarter and in the field of communication, whatever seems like an irrelevant trend for the decision makers in the business, is the reality for the students.
I’ll give an example: I asked them a question – “Did anyone of you download a TV show in his life? If so, please raise your hand…”. There were 140 students in the class and 140 hands were raised.
If you’ll ask the same question a group of people at their 40’s – I guess you would get more than 10 people who would raise their hands.
The generation is changing so rapidly. The students are not afraid of any technology, and when it has a real essence, they would gladly adopt it.
The business guys and the decision makers in the media are only starting to grasp this. They have a long way to go, and they should start with asking their kids how they consume media.
I’m sure they will learn a few things about the next generation of media consumption.
